The Manhattan is a classic cocktail believed to date back to the late 1800s. It's made with a bourbon or rye whiskey mixed with sweet vermouth and a dash of bitters. Garnished with cherry
What's is the box?
Remember a Manhattan should be prepared by stirring! Using a mixing glass to stir a cocktail instead of shaking it lets you maintain its texture and viscosity while controlling the amount of dilution. This cocktails mixing glass is perfect for controlling that.

Angostura Bitters is an essential ingredient to many of the classic cocktails. “A cocktail cabinet without Angostura is like a kitchen without salt and pepper.” ANGOSTURA aromatic bitters adds a layer of complexity, intensifies the flavor of other ingredients, counteracts the harshness of acidic contents and decrease the harshness of spirits.
What is this stuff, exactly? It is concentrated bitters made of herbs and spices. Its speculated that the recipe contains over 40 ingredients, but only five people on the planet know the formula. However, what is certain is that the orange-coloured tonic is a mixture of citrus fruits and vegetable extracts, as well as cardamom and a bitter root called "gentian".
You can also find this Bitter gift set at Indigo by Dillons small batch distillery based in beamsville, Ontario. The set includes three 100 ml bottles the flavours include;
Cranberry Bitters: Great for mulled cider or wine, or to mix up a Manhattan.
Ginger Bitters: A rich bitters created from both fresh and dried local ginger and other natural
Pear Bitters: Overwhelmingly pear, with vanilla, ginger and cubeb to add a slightly peppery finish.
Ultimately, choosing Bourbon or Rye for your Manhattan is purely up to preference. I like Bourbon because it adds a little sweetness, Rye has more of a peppery bite.
My favourite Bourbon is Maker's Marker.
This bourbon is unusual in that no rye is used. Instead of rye Maker's Mark uses red winter wheat, corn and malted barley
What also sets this bottle apart is that to this day each and every bottle is still hand-dipped in their signature red wax.
Luxardo Original Maraschino Cherries
What's a Manhattan without a cherry🍒? These are candied cherries soaked in Luxardo marasca cherry syrup. Luxardo maraschino cherries are made with prized sour marasca cherries preserved in the fruit's famed liqueur. These will bring your Manhattan to a whole new level.
I tried buying them on Amazon however there going for $60......... I did find a place in Canada that ships throughout the country for $23+ shipping You can purchase them from The gourmet warehouse
While this exact recipe also remains a closely guarded secret, this sweet vermouth’s intensely herbal character is the result of blending carefully chosen wines with a complex selection of Italian herbs, including sage, savory and dittany, and bitter-sweet exotic woods.
